Our location is within this former coastal holiday village, which has been lovingly restored to form a beautiful space to relax and enjoy your environment. This is a place that brings the community together for eating, drinking, sharing experiences and activities, along with providing a wellness centre and other shops and facilities. In the shade of forest trees, the Village affords glimpses of the sunset on the ocean from the various terraces and lawns here, that meander through the Aldeia grounds.
The Yoga and Surf camps here are a combination of relaxing and strengthening yoga practice, complimented by additional options for wellness activities in the Aldeia grounds. For surfing we take you to our local beaches in front of the village, where you can experience the swell of the Atlantic Ocean with our instructors beside you. This beautiful coast is famous for its waves, and you will not be disappointed as you dive in with the local surfers.
The Aldeia offers quality beach accommodation, with glamping tents perched on individual wooden platforms, to give you terrace space to watch the sunset or relax. For brick-built options there are spacious private rooms with ensuites, or shared backpacker rooms in our Oasis Backpackers Sintra Surf dormitories. These have all been recently renovated for your comfort. Our guests have use of the communal kitchen and dining areas, having described the picnic terraces and breakfast areas as ideal to meet other visitors, for ‘an informal family exchange between the guests’.
There are also regular activities and events taking place in this coastal retreat, feel free to join in! The atmosphere at the Village is one of community; this is a place for locals and visitors alike, with play areas for children and family restaurants with terraces. Between the wood fire pizzas, the ice cream parlour, and a highly regarded vegetarian restaurant, there is sure to be something delicious to tempt you. We also have a local wine bodega on site which hosts tasting events, and a brewery that is known locally for its superb craft beer.
The Wellness Centre provides a schedule of activities, events, classes and treatments for mind and body. There are yoga classes with various teachers, techniques and practices, along with various alternative therapy treatments, such as Reiki, described by guest reviews as ‘phenomenal’. The Surf and Yoga experiences here include classes in the Centre with options for outdoor classes when the weather allows. There are also various outdoor classes throughout the summer season, such as Qi Gong on our terrace.
A short walk from the Village takes you to the blissful wide stretch of sand of the main surf beach here at Praia de Maçãs, where you will take your instructions from an expert surf guide. Later take in your sunset from the smaller beach next door dotted with cafes on the front of the ocean.
